Before a camera found its way into my hands, they were filled with wrenches and welding torches on jobsites that left little time to explore passion projects. I left construction at 27 years old to pursue an outlet for the thing that had been inside me my entire life, whether it was around a school lunch table or on a jobsite floor, telling stories had always left me feeling the most fulfilled. Along the way, I found photojournalism by a chance encounter while working humanitarian aid overseas and became obsessed with photography. Letting that obsession take control of my life is the best choice I’ve ever made and it led me to marrying the woman of my dreams, Sabrena, graduating from the University of Washington-Tacoma and landing a staff photographer job that allows me to live my dream every day.
